A: Some screens (especially the LCD screens) cannot be run in full screen character mode. That's most likely the problem if you are getting a black screen.

What you need to do is the following:
* Close Advantage Plus.
* Right click on the Aplus icon on your desktop and choose PROPERTIES from the list that pops up.
* On the Gail.exe properties screen, click on the SCREEN tab.
* In the Usage section, click "Windowed" instead of "Full Screen"
* Click ok to close the property screen. You do not need to "apply" these settings since they will be applied the next time you open the program.
* Now Open Advantage Plus. It will open in a window that is too small to work in.
* Right click on the blue strip at the top border of the Advantage Plus window. This bar has the program name at the top left and the dash, box and x at the right (these are common to every window in all versions of windows). From this menu choose PROPERTIES again. This is a different set of properties from those of the icon.
* Click on the FONT tab.
* Select LUCIDA CONSOLE instead of RASTER Fonts.
* Select the Largest size that will allow the program window shown at the left of the sizes, to still fit within the screen. If it is too large, it will create scroll bars that will make the program unusable.
* Click OK when done and a window will open asking if you want to use these settings for this one time or for all future windows with this title. There are several variations of this wording on XP. But choose to save the window for all future windows with this title.
* If the resulting windows is too small, just repeat until you get it to where you are comfortable with it. If you make it too big, it will make a horizontal scroll bar. If this happens, you will need to also click on Layout tab and make sure both settings are 80 by 25, after you change the size to a smaller setting.
